For the RCA Logbook templates to work properly it is necessary to setup the HanDBase PC Desktop program correctly. In order to avoid changing each setting manually, we have created a customised 'HD.INI' file which sets the preferences automatically.

The 'HD.INI' file is contained in a compressed file called 'HD.ZIP'. This compressed file can be opened directly using Microsoft Windows XP or ME but third party software is required for earlier versions of Windows or the Macintosh computers. For Windows we recommend using 'WinZIP', which is free and fully working. WinZIP can be downloaded over the internet from www.winzip.com.

To install this 'HD.INI' file, copy it to the HanDBase program folder, which defaults to 'C:\Program Files\HanDBase3' . This will overwrite the old settings file with the new updated settings automatically and you will not need to set the preferences manually.

If you choose not to copy the 'HD.INI' file to your HanDBase folder described in the automated process above or if you chose not to install HanDBase or the RCA PC Filemaker Pro logbook to the default folders then you will need to set the HanDBase PC Desktop preferences manually.

1. Select the 'Preferences' option from the 'File' menu of HanDBase Desktop on your PC

2. Adjust the preferences to the required settings shown below

3. Press the 'Advanced' button to create an automated 'Export RCA Logbook' plug-in using the settings shown below. - If you have installed the RCA PC Filemaker Pro Logbook to a different folder (i.e. not the defaults 'C:\@LOGBOOK5\' or 'C:\@LOGBOOK6\') then substitute that folder name accordingly but still use the FileName '.....\EXP_LOG.TXT' and the Command Line '.....\RCA Logbook v4.99.exe' or '.....\RCA Logbook v6.exe' as applicable.
